The Hidden Oliver Project

The Hidden Oliver Project is a collaborative art project created in honor of Oliver Tree and the lasting creative impact his life and work have had on people around the world. Beginning with a large mural in his hometown of Santa Cruz, the project brings artists and fans together to transform memory, grief, and inspiration into something living and creative.

Artists are invited to create their own “Hidden Olivers” — playful pieces that place Oliver into everyday surroundings, inviting people to notice, discover, and share them. Here in Santa Cruz, there will be a series of Hidden Olivers appearing throughout local businesses and creative spaces he loved, alongside our larger collaborative mural.

At the heart of the project is an interactive worldwide map where artists can pin their own art they create in Oliver’s honor. This allows people to discover permanent murals and installations, find “free art” pieces tucked away for someone to stumble upon, or even hear music inspired by Oliver coming from a particular place. The goal is to make this something people can not only connect with online, but explore, discover, and experience in the real world and feel connected to Oliver.

What started as connection through one mural is growing into a living collection of art, music, memories, and creative connections —  celebrating the creative ripple effect of a life that inspired so many people.
